The Appeal of Ft. Lauderdale
If you haven't been to Fort Lauderdale since your college spring break, you haven't been to Fort Lauderdale. Long gone are the rowdy beer-guzzling teens, raucous MTV concerts, and Girls Gone Wild wet t-shirt contests. (Seems a shame to me that some vestiges of the good 'ole days didn't carry over).
In place of the spring breakers are wealthy families, many from Europe, who stay longer and spend far more than the college kids ever did. In the new Fort Lauderdale, prosperity reigns year-round.
Waterfront mansions. Private jets. Mega-yachts. Stretch limousines and sleek foreign sports cars. Five-star beachside hotels. Designer boutiques. Trendy spas. Scuba diving. Championship golf. A professional hockey team. Grand opera. Cabaret comedy. Hot new nightspots. Gourmet restaurants with celebrity chefs. You get the picture.
South Florida's see-and-be-seen locale is no longer the sole domain of SoBe, 30 miles south. Today Fort Lauderdale has come into its own, bringing culture, class, and a burgeoning sophistication.
Las Olas Boulevard, where the new Trump condo hotel will be located, is a tree-lined corridor of over 100 specialty shops, art galleries, entertainment venues and the best in fine dining.
Its Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is home to the Museum of Art, the Las Olas Riverfront, the Museum of Science and Discover, and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
As you walk along Las Olas, you can feel the energy. The sidewalks are filled with diners at cafes. By night, the club scene cranks up. No surprise that it's become a mecca for young professionals.
Ambling along the Riverwalk, a 22-block brick-lined park promenade on the New River, you'll see exquisite new high-rises as well as relics of Old Florida at the 1910 pioneer-style Stranahan, the city's oldest structure, and the Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum.
Hop a water taxi to find out why the city is called the "Venice of America." The banks of the river, the Intracoastal Waterway and fingerlike canals are sprinkled with mansions owned by local celebs, like that of self-made billionaire Wayne Huizenga, owner of the Miami Dolphins and one of Fort Lauderdale's major benefactors.
The city has evolved into one of the country's most vibrant destinations. Luxury hotels have replaced mom-and-pop motels and cheesy chain hotels. The Atlantic condo hotel (sold out except for resales), a member of Starwood's Luxury Collection, started the trend in the summer of 2004 with its luxury condo hotel units, European-style spa and fitness center.
More Information
The city's high-tech airport, the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, serves over 17 million visitors per year and is continually expanding and updating.
If shopping is your thing, then you'll love Fort Lauderdale's Sawgrass Mills (pictured right). Billed as the world's largest outlet mall, it features more than 300 shops.
Other major malls include the Colonnade Outlet, a $28 million high-end fashion district, and The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale with high-status retailers like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
If you like a little nightlife, try your luck at the nearby Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. It features a 130,000 sq. ft. casino and a Las Vegas-style entertainment complex.
For sports fans, it's just a hop, skip and tackle over to Dolphin Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins. As you can see, Fort Lauderdale isn't just for spring breakers anymore.

Unit Sizes & Construction
Trump Las Olas offers 22 different floor plans for studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. They'll range in size from 446 square feet to 1,548 square feet.
Construction began this summer and should be completed in about 24 months, fall 2008.
Pricing -- Whole Ownership vs. Fractional Ownership
Condo hotel units at Trump Las Olas range from $533,705 to $2,750,000. However, one of the major changes implemented by the developer was to set aside 10 of the 95 condo hotel units for fractional ownership.
If you think you'll only be using your condo hotel unit approximately 21 days or less a year, and you'd like to own a Trump but can't stomach the price tag, fractional ownership is a viable option. You can get a 1/17th fraction of a unit in the price range of $95,000 to $300,000. (More details available upon request.)
Move Quickly to Get in at First-tier Prices
Currently at Trump Las Olas there are great units from which to select, and they are available at first tier pricing!
However, the sales team for this property is about to unleash its marketing campaign tied in with the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 26-30, 2006. The Bahia Mar Marina, where the boat show is held, is just across the street from the future Trump Las Olas.
The sales team expects to generate a lot of sales during the boat show as it attracts some of the nation's wealthiest people (future guests in your condo hotel unit). They've even built a showroom where prospective buyers can see a typical kitchen and bathroom.
Once sales take off, a first price increase is expected to soon follow. So if you've been looking for a Ft. Lauderdale condo hotel, there is no better time to buy one than right now.
